PROGRAMMING
... programming all your lights & sirens needs
LIST OF OPTIONS
The options listed here are examples for your inspiration. Availability depends on the system.
Further features are constantly being added. Feel free to copy or mention the options when contacting me.
WORK IN PROGRESS
features are currently being added and reorganized
An input can be:
-
any button, slide switch, turn knob or any other input on the controller or
-
if applicable: any other input taken from the vehicle like the horn, certain controls on the steering wheel, vehicle signals, etc. or
-
any other contact that the installer connects as an input to the control system.
The "X" in "X seconds" refers to a time that can be chosen by you. It can be in the milliseconds and seconds range, all the way up to minutes (60 minutes at max).
ALL AGENCIES & VEHICLES
General:
-
buttons on the controllers can be programmed freely
-
all Whelen products (and others) can be controlled through programmable systems
-
warning lights, sirens and scene lights can be controlled through one controller
-
more controllers can be added so you can control all functions from e.g. the rear of the vehicle
-
every single lighthead can be controlled individually
-
many dozens of different flash patterns
-
synchronizing and phasing lights however you please
-
option to slow, dim and turn off lightheads
-
V2V sync with Core - lights on different vehicles will sync to create a calmer & safer scene
-
vehicle inputs which can be used for numerous convenient, safe, automated and smart features
-
setting priorities decides what function or pattern dominates in case of a conflict
-
CA Title 13 compliant flash patterns and sirens
Warning Lights:
-
you can have as many patterns for as many different situations as you want
-
automatically adapt patterns to signals from night sensors and from vehicle inputs
-
manual pattern control
-
night patterns for responses with slowed and/ or dimmed and/ or turned off lights
-
fog patterns for responses with (recommended:) slow, dimmed and mostly turned off lights to increase driver comfort and to avoid lights blinding the emergency vehicle driver
-
button that makes lights flash normally (when using a night/ fog pattern) or with a very attention grabbing pattern for X seconds before automatically returning to the night, fog or regular pattern
-
option to cut white lights and takedowns
-
slow scene patterns that make parked vehicles visually stand as well as people and debris around the vehicle
-
Traffic Advisors
-
arriving on scene automatically enables scene mode with e.g. slowed scene pattern and/ or illumination lighting
-
cruise light function can be used to utilize lights as marker lights
-
use warning lights as brake lights and turn signals
-
brake cut when responding - automatically dims or turns off rear lights and makes it visually clear that the vehicle is braking
-
command mode either by activating green lights or a steady burn pattern
-
cut, slow or dim interior lights to reduce self-blinding of the emergency vehicle driver at night
Sirens:
-
70+ siren and warning tones
-
turning on the siren automatically activates emergency lights (can be coupled to rules like "sirens must be on for at least 5 seconds")
-
siren automatically adapts to speed (for example: 0-20mph = piercer, 20-30mph = yelp, 30-50mph wail, 50+mph mechanical wail)
-
input that activates a siren for X seconds (useful for example when responding through a red light at night)
-
low power for sirens (requires Core)
-
activating, deactivating and/ or changing sirens through any input, including the vehicle horn and (depending on the vehicle) even steering wheel inputs
-
integrate reverse warning tone (when emergency lights are on)
-
button that enables alternative tones, either just different sounding wail/ yelp/ piercer or completely different tones (e.g. euro tones)
-
dual sirens with any siren combination
-
options to independently control dual sirens
-
manual siren modes including short "beep beeps" and coasting wail and mechanical sirens
-
hold siren modes - plays any siren tone as long as a button is pressed (can also be used as an alternative for short manuals)
Controller:
-
warning tones (beeps and voice messages) through the controller
-
option to combine these warning beeps with flashing one or multiple buttons
-
active flash pattern display
-
cut buttons for additional lights like grille lighting, side or rear lighting
- main warning light button or slide switch automatically activates grille, side and/ or rear light button/s to show that they're active. Turning these buttons off cuts the respective (additional) lights
- button that quickly deactivates all lights and sirens
- functions can be assigned to any button on the controller
- assign important, frequently used or code 3 response features to buttons that can be reached and identified without having to look at them
- control, lock or unlock devices or doors that are coupled to your system (work through your upfitter might be required)
- control backlight intensity and automatically adapt backlight intensity
- interior lighting controls
Arges (search, spot and scene light):
-
control through Arges control head, regular control panel or by hand
-
automatically activate Arges with takedowns, alley lights or scene lights and if applicable: towards the direction of scene lights
-
Arges sweep mode for responses (Arges automatically moves left and right to increase warning output towards front and sides)
-
Arges automatically flashes towards the front when responding
-
Arges automatically moves with steering wheel position
Digital Voice Messages (DVM)
-
preview on controller before message plays
-
combine voice message with warning sound or tone
-
automatic repeat every X seconds or minutes
POLICE
Staying stealthy:
-
stealth button that reduces the active lights to a certain amount or even a minimal amount of flashing lights
-
for agencies that use red & blue lights: stealth button that cuts blue lights as they distinguish police from Fire & EMS in some states. From a criminals point of view: seeing emergency lights that are typically associated with Fire & EMS may not be as scary as seeing blue lights used by just police.
-
- sirens work without lights
-
- emergency lights only flash when sirens are active
-
- press a certain button and emergency lights flash for X seconds, then turn off automatically
-
- flashing lights limited to the front or rear
-
slowing and dimming emergency lights,
Panic button/ input which:
-
quickly flashes all front lights to impairs vision at the officer (and)
-
activates certain siren tones as a further distraction
-
plays a voice message calling the public for help
Public alerts:
-
automatically repeating voice messages
-
certain siren tones like hi-lo as an evacuation alert in California or tones similar to mass notification (tornado) sirens
-
examples: tornado, flood, fire, smoke and evacuation warnings - any threat warnings in general
Gun lock options
-
either a simple and traditional gun lock button (single press, hold X seconds or multi-press button) or
-
actual button combinations just like a password
FIRE
Scene lighting:
-
independently control illumination lighting (sides, ground/ distant lighting)
-
automatically activate illumination lights when arriving on scenes (shifting into park)
-
Traffic Advisor Left automatically turns on illumination lights to the right and vice versa
